Crown Football Round-Up
Josh Eppiah and Alex Pascanu were confirmed in the 10-man squad for the Hong Kong Citi Sevens 7-a-side tournament that took place last weekend. The Young Foxes travelled to Hong Kong in hope of retaining the winning trophy they won at the tournament last year.
Their first game saw City begin with a 1-0 victory over Singapore Cricket Club, courtesy of Alex Pascanu’s 12th minute strike.
City also secured a 3-0 win over HKFA Red Dragons, with Josh scoring inside 60 seconds from the penalty spot and a second goal from the striker followed 1 minute later. Although the team were knocked out in the semi-final round there was impressive play from Alex and Josh, racking up 6 goals between them throughout the tournament, including this incredible strike from Josh:
Adam Lewis has been selected as part of the Young Lions training camp in Spain. The England U19s will take part in a preparation camp ahead of the summer’s U19 Euro Finals in Finland next month. Adam made his debut for the Young Lions in March, in a 4-1 win victory over Hungary in the Euro Qualifiers.
Goalkeeper Chris Maxwell has been called up to the latest Wales national squad. Chris was named in Ryan Giggs’ latest team for the training camp in Los Angeles, where they will Mexico in a friendly on Tuesday. Chris is awaiting his first cap at senior level after representing his country at all age groups at youth level. Good luck Chris!
After a record-breaking season with Wigan Athletic, Christian Walton was shortlisted for the PFA Bristol Street Motors Fans’ League One Player of the Year. With 12% of the vote Christian just missed out to Blackburn Rovers midfielder Bradley Dack.
